Archives & History Committee
Purpose
It shall be the purpose of the Archives and History Committee to seek out, acquire and preserve articles and information pertaining to the activities and achievements of the Associations and their members which is believed to be of historical or other value.
Organization
The Committee shall be appointed by the Section Chair. It will consist of a Chair and at least two other members. The terms of office with approval of the Section Chair and Board of Directors shall be three years. The terms should be staggered so that only 1/3 of the members term expire each year. Members may serve multiple terms, subject to the approval specified above.
Primary Activities
- Search for and obtain articles (physical and written) that, in its opinion, will depict the past and present activities and achievements of the Association and their members.
- Determine the criteria to be used in selecting materials to be preserved and present same to Board of Directors for approval.
- Determine ways and means best suited to the preservation of materials selected for retention by the Association.
- Investigate and report its recommendations to the Board of Directors with respect to the most acceptable place or places for storing and displaying material selected to be retained by the Association.
- Study and recommend to the Board of Directors policies to be followed in dis-seminating historical information and materials (articles and records) in such manner as to be of greatest benefit to the Association and their memberships, to other organizations, and to the public.
- Maintain an up-to-date record of all articles and materials in the Archives and History collection, and from time to time review same and recommend the disposal of those which are judged to be of little or questionable value. No materials, previously accepted by the Committee shall be disposed of except upon the approval of the Board of Directors.
- Prepare annually a budget estimate for approval by the Board of Directors.
- Update the printed history of our Association every five years.
