NC Safewater Endowment Program

At the Annual Conference, the Endowment Committee introduced the “All Member Fund Raising Campaign for 2012”.  We are encouraging ALL of our members to donate to the NC Safe Water Endowment Program during 2012.  All of the members who donate any amount by September 30, 2012 will be designated as a FOUNDING DONOR.  Making a donation is very easy, just download the Pledge and Donor Form and the Donor Program Form from the right-side of this page.  Information on the Donor Program Form will describe what types of grants and scholarships earnings from each Named Fund will fund.  Select the Named Fund to which you want to donate, complete the Pledge and Donor Form, attach your check and mail your donation to the address on the Pledge and Donor Form.

Upon receipt of your donation, you will receive a letter acknowledging and thanking you for your donation.  All donations are 100% tax deductible.  The letter will also be proof of your donation.

We are excited that many of our members have already responded and made a pledge/donation.  In the last status report (November 9, 2011) for the NC Safe Water Endowment Program, we noted that over $241,000 had been pledged to the program.  During the period from November 9th through January 22nd, donors pledged/donated  $67,991.33. The sources of this total amount are listed below:

  1. Eleven individual donors giving between $25.00 and $1,000 each: $2,975.00
  2. Donations collected at 5-S Breakfast at Annual Conference: $3,590.00
  3. Donations received by 5-S Inductees for 2011: $1,743.33
  4. Auction held as part of Chair’s Endowment Reception: $4,683.00
  5. Donation/pledge by Hazen and Sawyer, PC: $5,000.00
  6. Donation/pledge by Frank and Susan Stephenson for Named Fund: $25,000.00
  7. Donation/pledge by Lars and Lynn Balch for Named Fund: $25,000.00

As of January 22nd, we had received pledges of over $309,000 for the NC Safe Water Endowment Program.  At its meeting on January 24, 2012, the Endowment Committee set a goal of increasing the assets of the endowment program to $500,000.00 in 2012.  In order to achieve this goal, we need ALL of our members to donate to the endowment during 2012.  If each of our members donated 15 cents per day (about $55.00 for the year) we would easily achieve this goal.

We encourage ALL of our members to become a FOUNDING DONOR by making your donation by September 30, 2012.  Your gift will keep on giving and thereby will help future water professionals obtain the education they will need to work in the water industry in the future and will enable environmental educators to have to resources to better teach young students about water and the importance of having a dependable supply of safe water.
