SONAR Task Force
Sustainable Outstanding Nimble Anticipatory Responsive
The SONAR Task Force is created by the Board of Trustees each year and is active for a period of three months preceding the annual budget process. The SONAR Task Force chair and other members will be appointed by vote of the Board of Trustees, but membership will always include the Association Chair, Vice Chair and Chair Elect. The Board of Trustees will annually assign to the SONAR Task Force,to consider specific strategic initiatives or projects that they have identified as Board priorities. Items considered by the SONAR Task Force will not be of an administrative or management nature, or any issue that can easily be addressed during the normal budget and operational planning process. At the end of their active period the SONAR Task Force is responsible for returning to the Board recommendations and implementation strategies that will achieve the initiatives of the Board of Trustees as well as maintain the sustainability of the Association while taking into consideration impacts on the human and financial resources of the Association. Additionally, the SONAR Task Force should may suggest updates to the Association’s Vision Statement, make recommendations on opportunities to move closer to that Vision, address existing challenges preventing the Association from achieving its Vision, and outline any impacts that suggested changes may have on members or customers.
If an issue arises during the course of a year that could benefit from careful and global consideration the Board of Trustees may choose to re-activate the SONAR Task Force for a limited period of time to consider the specific issue and make recommendations.
