HOW TO JOIN

There are three ways that you can become a member of the NC AWWA-WEA. National AND State Membership

The first two ways to join the NC AWWA-WEA are by joining one or both of our national parent organizations – the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and/or the Water Environment Federation (WEF). If you reside in the state of North Carolina and you join AWWA and/or WEF, you will automatically become a member of the NC AWWA-WEA. If you do not live in North Carolina and would like to become a member of NC AWWA-WEA by joining one or both of the national associations, you may request membership in multiple states when you pay your national dues.
Joining AWWA and/or WEF at the national level will give you membership benefits in the national organization you belong to, as well as membership benefits in the NC AWWA-WEA.

When you join nationally, you have the option to join as an individual or as an organization or utility. Organizational and utility memberships extend the benefits of membership to everyone employed by that organization or utility.

For information on joining AWWA and/or WEF, and a list of specific benefits provided by these national organizations, please contact each organization directly.

State Level Association Membership
The third way to join the NC AWWA-WEA is to become a State Level Association Membership (SLAM). SLAM provides a way for individuals to join NC AWWA-WEA at the state level – without joining the national AWWA and/or WEF. Membership dues are $25 for one year (12 months). SLAM provides membership benefits only within the NC AWWA-WEA.
To join SLAM, complete the Membership Application posted below and submit to our office with your $25 annual dues. Memberships take approximately a month to process and you will receive a new member welcome packet in the mail once your membership has been established. Your welcome packet will include your membership card, receipt for paying your membership dues, and recent publications.
You don’t have to wait to receive your SLAM welcome packet to start utilizing your member benefits. If you are registering for an NC AWWA-WEA event, or ordering a book from the NC AWWA-WEA bookstore and you have already submitted a SLAM application or you will be submitting you SLAM application with your registration/order, indicate "Membership Applied For" where your SLAM number is requested and we will fill in you membership number once it has been assigned.

If you are already a SLAM member, you may now choose to renew your membership online.

If you are currently a member of the national AWWA and/or WEF with an address in North Carolina or you paid for a dual membership in North Carolina, it is unnecessary for you to join SLAM. You have already paid for, and should be receiving benefits from the NC AWWA-WEA. If you have questions about your membership, please contact our office.

All members are invited to join one of our many committees. Only members of AWWA and/or WEF may chair a committee or sit on the Board of Trustees.
