Water Resources Committee

The Water Resources Committee was formed in May 2005 to advance technical and institutional practices; influence public policy; and advocate the sustainable development, protection, and management of water resources. Committee activities include:

1. Holding six committee meetings annually, each including a speaker on a timely water resources topic.  Some committee meetings may offer PDHs, and/or be joint meetings with other committees or partner organizations.

2. Organizing and supporting the annual NC-GA-SC Watershed Symposium.
3. Organizing water resources focused seminars or partnering with other organizations on training opportunities.  Past seminars include: “Striking a Balance Between Legislation, Implementation and Operations in Water Resources Management” and “Water Conservation.”
4.  Providing information through NC Currents to promote awareness of water resources issues and Committee activities.
5. Participating in the NC AWWA-WEA Water Day at the state legislative campus.
6.  Developing and promoting partnerships with organizations and stakeholder groups involved in water resources activities statewide.
7.  Working with the NC AWWA-WEA Government Activities Committee to promote awareness of, review, and develop technical comments on proposed legislation related to water resources.

WE NEED YOU!

The Committee is actively seeking new members, as well as new topics and speakers for the Watershed Symposium, our Committee meetings, or other educational opportunities. Please contact us if you’d like to be added to our Committee email list, or with your ideas for topics to address.
