NC AWWA-WEA is excited to continue our tradition with the Raleigh and Charlotte Model Water Tower Competitions for middle and elementary school students.   We also hope to add a third competition in the Triad area in 2020.  This year will mark the eleventh competition for students in the Raleigh area and the sixth competition in Charlotte. The Raleigh competition will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2019, and the Charlotte competition is scheduled for May 2, 2020.

At these competitions, students are challenged to construct a functioning water tower that holds at least 1 gallon of water and stands upright in a 12-inch square. The towers are then evaluated for structural efficiency, hydraulic efficiency, cost efficiency and design ingenuity. The objective of the competition is to make participants aware of the importance of reliable drinking water and the rewarding opportunities available in the water profession.

We hope to award our winners with cash prizes and to provide all participants with

t-shirts. We would love to make this possible through your support in the form of a monetary donation. At your request, we can send a letter acknowledging your gift that will act as a tax receipt. Your company logo will be displayed on all t-shirts and certificates to acknowledge your generosity.

This competition continues to grow each year and we are planning for our largest participation yet. Your generosity will allow us to continue to educate and inspire a younger generation. Sparking an interest in water is going to be vital for continuing our supply of safe drinking water as well as providing clean water to those in need.
