Public Education Committee

The purpose of the Public Education Committee is to identify opportunities for, and provide the resources to educate citizens of North Carolina about water resources and the water environment.

We accomplish this through three main outreach areas and one standing sub-committee.

  • Foster basic awareness of water issues with programs targeted for specific age groups
  • Attend Regional Science Fairs to reward students for water related science projects
  • Identify Stockholm Junior Water Prize candidates and sponsor their attendance at the National Competition
  • Support the Student Activities sub-committee who provide outreach to college and university students to encourage careers in our industry
  • General public outreach when identified
  • Foster partnerships with other Committees, organizations and associations
  • Work closely with Communications Committee on NC Currents and the Website
  • Develop public education communication materials as needed
